Your Wedding Season Self Care Guide

Dolls, I don’t know about you, but wedding season is in full swing for me here in New York City. I love Love and I love community, so weddings are always something I look forward to.

The more I embrace daily self care, the more I tend to enjoy special occasions where I can get dolled up. For me it’s not about fitting into a dress size, it’s about dancing in heels without my knees hurting, wearing a strapless dress and showing my bare arms with confidence and even going makeup free if I have to (I’ll tell you more about that in another post haha)

We all want to feel strong, shine bright and turn heads, right? Well, I’ve got you covered with a Self Care Guide to get you through wedding season as a guest, bridesmaid or bride.

Fitness as Self Care

First things first, let’s get those bodies moving. Incorporate a mix of cardio and strength training into your routine. Think dance workouts, pilates, or a sweaty HIIT session. These will sculpt those curves and boost your confidence. Not sure where to start? Here is a plus size workout video I created just for you:

Plus Size Fashion & Self Care

Now, let’s talk fashion, dolls! My most recent plus size wedding guest outfit from Anthropologie was completely sleeveless/strapless. Instead of saying “I hate my arms“, I used this plus size strapless dress as an opportunity for me to celebrate my self care gains– like my soft glowy skin. Choose outfits that flatter your body, highlighting your hard-earned gains. Opt for vibrant colors, figure-hugging silhouettes, and playful accessories. You deserve to feel like a million bucks! If you like my outfit, follow me on the LTK app, you can find links to each item here.

Wedding Cocktails & Self Care

Ah, food and drinks – the temptation is real. But for me, the social pressure of explaining why you’re not drinking at a big party can the real challenge. If you want to quietly stay sober without making a big thing of it, I find that mocktails or seltzer with lime are often assumed to be cocktails. You can enjoy the festivities without derailing your fitness goals. Sip on a glass of champagne, but don’t go overboard. For my dolls who want to indulge a bit more, I recently went to a wedding where they passed out Zbiotics, a pre-alcohol supplement created to prevent a hangover later I can’t tell you if it worked because I was drinking seltzer haha. Whichever direction you choose… Moderation is a good self care key, always.

Remember, dolls, weddings are all about celebration and joy. So, when the party starts, hit that dance floor and unleash your moves. Dancing is not only a blast but also a fantastic calorie burner. Let your hair down, have fun, and make memories.
