I mentioned a few posts back that I spent the beginning of 2011 quite sick and in the hospital. For most people that would be a perfect recipe for weight loss, but as a PSP with Polycycstic Ovarian Syndrome, spending 10 days in bed right after the holidays meant a ridiculous amount of weight gain for me.
Unfortunately, if I’m not constantly working to lose weight with exercise, I will pack on the pounds with no effort at all. So, I started 2011 at my highest weight in a long time but I also started with a new found desire to get back on track.
My New Years Resolution before I got sick was to lose 10 pounds in January, February and March and then to reassess my fitness goals and lose some more. But I wasn’t physically able to step foot into a gym until mid-January so I knew I had to just do my best. I changed my eating habits by eating fruits and veggies with every single meal.
- A banana in my oatmeal
- Green Beans with my lunch
- An apple with my afternoon popcorn
- Fresh pineapple slices while I cooked dinner
I found that doing this filled me up a lot and helped me to make better choices throughout the day. I combined that with 30 minutes of cardio, 3-4 times a week and in the last two weeks of January, I’ve lost 9.2 pounds!
Not too far off from my goal, now lets see if I can get 100% back on track for February. Maybe this time next year I’ll be shopping for new JDWilliams Womens Coats…
How’s everyone else doing?
Congratulations on your weight loss!
Awesome job! I love the idea of adding a fruit or veggie the way you did! I may borrow the idea! I’ve been working hard also (though didn’t get in the excercising that I should have toward the end of the month). I lost 6.6 pounds in January 🙂
I’ve been using Sparkpeople to track my progress. I love that site!
Wow that’s so awesome! I lost 2.5 lbs my first week, the proceeded to gain them back (and then some) as the month progressed. You inspire me to start February right!
Congrats on your weight loss! I’ve sort of slipped off the weight loss wagon, but I plan on jumping back on this month.
Awesome work! I found that sugar snap peas are great to snack on, they have a satisfying crunch and taste great by themselves :-).
GREAT job. So proud of you. : ] Get it girl.
Ive been doing tha same thing =). Mainly because I’ve been eating like crap. But it’s much easier to make changes in eating when you add food rather than take away!
That’s amazing! Well done Lady. I tend to be an extremist which never pays off because you can’t do it for long. I can’t just add veggies. I end up eating nothing but veggies.
I’m glad to hear that you are feeling better. I’ve gone 70% vegan and I juice alot! I also walk everyday for 30 mins. I have seen a big change in my body the last month. I easily droped 20 pounds with the help ofgreen juices, fruits, salads and soups. I am also on the points system. I do throw in a few pieces of whole wheat bread, oatmeal, and last week I had some chicken breast. I feel balanced.
I’ve been terrible, lately. Better about food (or at the very least, aware), but in general, I have fallen off the exercise wagon. Being sick and going through a break-up has not helped. I want to get back to the gym so bad, but not being able to breathe unfortunately puts a damper on working out.
I am so much worse than I was last year. I’m still losing weight but I’m worried about it.
Ice cream sure sounds good right about now.
