The Good News:
I’ve lost 25 pounds.
The Bad News:
I’ve lost 25 pounds.
When I started focusing more on weight loss earlier this year, I wanted to lose 60 pounds before 2012 came. Now its November 2011 and while I’ve lost 25 pounds and that’s awesome… I can’t help feeling like I’m failing to some degree.
I know that maintaining a loss is an accomplishment, but I think I need a jolt into weight loss mode again. Over the past 2 months I’ve seen the scale tip down to where I’d lost 30 pounds but it crept back up to 25. I don’t know if I’m not as serious, strict or if I need to change what I’m doing altogether but I’d really like to lose another 10-15 pounds before the end of the year.
A few days ago on twitter two of my favorite TBGB followers were tweeting me, thanking me for suggesting swimming to them and one of them has lost 50 pounds! I’m so proud of her and I know I can do it too… I guess just need to find something inside of me to push to the next level.
Yesterday I turned down a piece of red velvet cake… I guess that’s a start!
You have been doing the right thing, by making permanent changes to your diet instead of starving yourself out. Chances are you will not gain this weight back as opposed to those who lose quickly!

25lbs is a huge accomplishment. Don’t be down on yourself. If you make your goal of another 10-15 by the end of the year great, but if you don’t that’s ok too. Progress is what counts not the number.

Thanks Ladies… In my heart I know you’re right. Just struggling today xoxo

You have no idea how much you have helped me in the past year. It is a constant struggle for me. I have to re-learn how to properly eat. That being so stuffed it hurts is not normal. You helped me to take that first step, and for that I will always be eternally grateful. You can do this CeCe!

Hi Cece,
I know weight loss can be difficult but keep up the great work. I know when I first started to lose weight it was a slow process for me also. I’ve lost about 60lbs. Try taking new classes at your gym. I take Zumba, Boot Camp and Aqua Fitness classes at my gym. You can do it!!!

One of my Weight Watcher leaders said something that’s so common sense and yet so damn hard to take to heart: This weight didn’t come on over night, and it’s not going to get lost over night.
If only it were that easy, right?
A few things you need to ask yourself CeCe…. Are you finding yourself in a rut as far as what you’re eating? If you’re eating the same things over and over, your body may have acclimated itself to your menu choices. Same thing with exercise. Can you push through a wall somewhere? Instead of Zumba, try yoga. Instead of swimming, try spinning. If you can, eat royally during the day. Eat like a queen for breakfast, a princess for lunch, and a pauper for dinner. Etc. etc. etc., yada yada yada.
And now I’m off to practice what I preach. π

About a year ago I started my own weight loss journey. The most important thing Iβve learned along the way is to be constantly inconsistent. What I mean by this is to constantly change your routine, when I started off working out all I did was walk on the treadmill and over time I try a different workout routine just about every month or so, such as zumba, spinning and my current favorite hot yoga. Youβll be amazed at how great you fell constantly challenging your body and trying something different. Doesnβt mean you canβt go back to the classes you enjoy the most but continually aim to not allow your body to get into a routine. I really want to recommend hot yoga, its extremely challenging but it does wonders for your body inside and out.
just in case you were wondering i’ve dropped 70 pounds so far.
keep up the good work it the numbers are just extra incentive what matters is that you are on a path to health π

I second the comment about switching what you’re eating and trying a different kind of exercise than what you’ve been doing. Sometimes your body can become accustomed to what you’ve been doing if you’re essentially doing the same thing all the time. Sometimes, all you need is to switch things up a bit and it will give your weight loss efforts a boost.
I lost about 50 pounds with Weight Watchers a few years ago, and shaking things up always proved to be a good thing when my weight loss stalled.

You shouldn’t beat yourself about not meeting your goal. Focus on the positive and just keep trying to do better every day. Loosing weight is such a daily struggle. Keep up the good work.. And thanks for your motivation!

The ladies are right on all counts.
Switch it up and you might see something change on your scale.
But I’d caution strict watching of the scale. How you feel, how your clothes fit, and remind yourself that building muscle weighs more.
But only you know if you’ve relaxed your eating/exercising plans.
As one of the 2 readers who acknowledged you inspired, just keep on walking through those dark moments.

Hey – I echo what everyone else has said. I’m in a similar boat myself, having lost between 50-60 lbs. from my highest weight…and I want to drop another 90. It’s hard when you hit a plateau or stop losing for awhile, especially when you’re making a conscious effort and STILL not seeing results. The thing I try to remind myself is, I’ve always been fat, and this isn’t coming off overnight. I think we’ve all been sold the idea of “quick weight loss”. We watch shows, read in magazines, blogs, etc. of these people who lose 85 lbs. in 4 months or whatever, and we think that everyone can do it that way and that is what’s normal…and that’s not the case at all! Normal, if there is such a thing, is probably much closer to what you’re experiencing. So I think that you should be proud of yourself, and keep pluggin’ away. You’ll get there eventually π

I know what you mean and I feel I’m sort of in a similar situation right now. Last year I lost 50 lbs and while I’m very proud of myself for this, I still wish to lose another 15-20 lbs, but I haven’t been able to accomplish that this year. I keep playing with 5 lbs back and forth, but I haven’t been able to go back down and it’s one of the most frustrating feelings. Someone told me that I probably just need to switch my exercise program because now my body is used to the one I’ve been doing for so long, but I’m having a really hard time motivating myself to do anything else. Especially now that it’s cold and winter’s coming fast (Canada, eh, hello snowy winter!). I know how you feel girl, you’re not alone! But we can’t give up, not yet!!!

Time goes by so quickly! How many years have gone by without any weight loss? A few years will zip by and if you go at 25 lbs/year you’ll see yourself slimmer in a healthy and maintainable way!

I had the exact same expectations for my 2011 weight loss. I started in February and I lost 30 pounds really quickly. Then I had a friend visit and I fell off the wagon and I haven’t been back on it consistently since June. I’ll go a week and then have a splurge. Right now I’m at a 25 pound loss and I REALLY want to lose at least 10 more before January.
But if I don’t that’s ok…because at least I didn’t gain 25 pounds this year like I did last year.
Good luck getting motivated.

25 lbs is a fantastic accomplishment and with all the gym time you get in I am sure your measurements are showing an even bigger loss! Loosing weight isn’t easy, but you are going about it in a healthy way by changing your lifestyle and not just “dieting”. Here is to a successful last several weeks of 2011.
(I’m down 52 lbs so far this year and have another 35 to go, so I am in to win it with you!!)

I as well think therefore, perfectly pent post!
