The NutriBullet LEAN challenge!

The holiday season is always rough for me to navigate. There’s such an influx of parties, wine, sweet treats and indulging and by the time I fly home I find myself feeling a little lethargic.

It’s so important for me to listen to my body.

Around December 15th I knew I’d been indulging more than usual. I could feel my energy levels were a little low. I had a few breakouts along my jaw line and my cycle was a day late (which may not sound like a big deal, but when I’m in a healthy groove my body runs like clockwork).

One of my healthy living strategies when I feel this way is to flood my body with nutrient dense foods (leafy greens, healthy fats, proteins, etc.) to get myself back on track.

But is it realistic to try to do a cleanse during the holidays?

Ehhhh… not really.

But when I looked at my calendar I noticed that the week before Christmas I had some quiet time in my schedule where I’d be home in California with no parties or anything. Just me, my family and some of the best produce around in the Central Valley.

I realized I could probably sneak in a little healthy reset before Christmas!

Here’s what I did:

I ordered the NutriBullet LEAN weight loss system.

Why?

Because I wanted to get one for my mom for Christmas anyway, I have one at home and it’s super easy to use.

For me, having NutriBullet LEAN is more about the healthy lifestyle that I want to live. Having smoothies every day is a great way for me to keep my healthy lifestyle on track. When I worked in an office, I kept a NutriBullet in my desk drawer, I’ve traveled with my NutriBullet and made smoothies in hotels, so for me I use it more as a healthy lifestyle strategy than a weight loss product.nutribullet2

Anyway, my NutriBullet LEAN came with LEAN Boost  powder for my smoothies. In order to maximize the fat burning power of each Lean Blast, it has to contain the correct amount of protein, and the LEAN Boost powder has a proprietary blend of powerful, natural metabolism boosters to optimize fat burning. What’s important for me is that LEAN Blast includes fiber and prebiotics that support healthy digestion and regularity, this was perfect for my healthy reset!nutribullet3

To make life simple, I followed the NutriBullet 7-Day Transformation Plan created by Registered Dietitians on the NutriBullet staff and I’m so glad I did. The 7-Day Transformation Plan teaches you how easy it is to unlock the Weight Loss Code and become the leanest, healthiest you possible. It shows how to make perfect, delicious LEAN Blasts and Portion Perfect Meals by using the plastic plate divider – when it’s time for your meal, you just fill each section with the appropriate foods, so you never take too much of the wrong food. Not only that, NutriBullet LEAN also has an app which makes following the plan and creating your grocery lists super easy.

There were seven smoothie recipes, my favorite is the “Lipid Love” it tastes so yummy and packs a punch with lots of greens, berries and plant-based protein.nutribullet4NutribulletLEANnutribullet6

One thing I know is that when I start my day with a smoothie like this, I am more inspired to make healthy choices as the day continues. I took our dog Bingo for walks, went swimming and ate healthy lunches, snacks and dinners that were way better than the Christmas treats I’d been nibbling on for the first two weeks in December.

By the time Christmas rolled around I was feeling more energized to play with my little cousins, do my favorite hike in Runyon Canyon and continue my daily smoothies in the New Year.

  1. I haven’t perfected the healthy smoothie yet but I am always proud of myself for sneaking in as much spinach or kale as possible and still having it taste like a dessert! If I don’t have enough fruit to add for sweetness I like using honeycrisp apple juice.

  17. My daily green smoothie consists of water, a big handful of spinach and kale mix, two scoops of vanilla protein powder, a cup of frozen berries, a scoop of peanut butter powder, a scoop of chia seeds, a scoop of whole flax seeds, about a heaping tablespoon each of chorella and spirulina, and a heaping spoon of msm powder. Sometimes I will throw in a banana. This makes enough for me and my husband to have a good, healthy portion. It is filling, energizing, and delicious!

  19. I use spinach, ground oatmeal (can’t eat oatmeal warmed up so I just use the oats), cinnamon, greek yogurt and frozen fruit (strawberries, mangoes, peaches and pineapples). Cinnamon is great for your blood sugar levels, heart and other benefits but I use it because it takes away the oatmeal taste 😉 Also spinach has no taste which means your smoothie should taste like the fruit you are using. Best of wishes ladies as we continue this journey through life.

  20. I try to limit sugar but I still like some sweetness – so whatever berries I have in the fridge or freezer (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries or even Saskatoons), almond milk and some non-sweetened/unflavored whey isolate. If the berries aren’t quite sweet enough I add a splash of no-sugar syrup (like vanilla or amaretto etc) – Add ice and blend – great for the commute.
Haven’t jumped on the green smoothie’s yet but I have my eye on some good avocado recipes!

  39. My avocado was rotten so I could’n’t add it to my smoothie today. Instead I went with a frozen smoothie blend, (until I can prep fresh fruit), fresh banana, a splash of orange juice, kale, guava and water. It was soo good! I’d love to try the Nutri-Bullet protein powder though.

  45. Smoothies are a favorite lunch for me. I usually start with yogurt (preferably homemade, but any good yogurt works), then add fruit like fresh, canned, or frozen peaches, some milk, a pinch of salt, and a dollop of honey if I’m using plain yogurt. Blend it all up, and I’m good to go!
