I received such an overwhelming response to my Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe for Fall, that I had to come back with one for Winter. You can use these items to create endless outfits, perfect for winter! This Winter, I decided to take some of my favorite pieces from Lane Bryant and create as many outfits as possible. Watch my WinterPlus Size Capsule Wardrobe, then click the arrows below for details on how I mixed and matched these looks.
Thanksgiving is becoming my favorite holiday as I lean more into gratitude at all times. I’m thankful for everything that’s happening in my life, even when it doesn’t feel good because I know that good and better things are always on the way.
Thanksgiving is also great because you can rock any style and it will work.
Not sure what to wear for Thanksgiving? I’ve got FIVE thanksgiving outfits perfect for any style… Leave a comment letting me know your favorite!
I’m excited to share that I’m doing a Tedx Talk this week!
As you can imagine, I am a little nervous, but I am doing everything I can to prepare. The last decision is… what should I wear?
Over the years you’ve seen me do Wendy Williams show, the Rachael Ray show and of course, theCURVYcon so you know the different style choices I like to make for special moment.
I really do adore effortless style, but sometimes the most simple things can feel awkward on my body. Something as simple as finding a T-shirt in my size that isn’t stiff and boxy or finding the perfect pair of distressed jeans can take a little work. So, maybe effortless style takes a little effort after all, but it’s so worth it!
I love having outfits that I know I can just throw on and feel cool for anything I’m doing. So, today I thought I’d break down How to Style a White T-Shirt and Jeans: One Look, Three Ways.
Let me know which one you like best in the comments!
I’ve got links for each look below and a video with a trick on how to get your T-shirt to fit *just* right!
Which Look Would You Rock?
This weeks Dressing Room Confidential is happening inside of Forever 21. Shopping in between seasons is always a little tough, but I managed to find a few things I like.
Take a look and let me know what I should keep and what I should leave behind. I’m especially curious about the leather dress I tried on. I’d love to know if you like it and how you’d style it.
Links to everything I tried on are below!

Have you started turning your closet over for spring yet?
I’m getting better at purging my closet and then going shopping for new items as I need them. This season, I’m looking to bring in more white and brights to my wardrobe. More white items and more bright colors. I typically avoid wearing white because I hate the idea of getting stains on my clothes, but… this season, I’m going to get over it. I guess that’s what the dry cleaners are for, right?
I’m pretty good at finding bright colored dresses, but this season I want to find unexpected bright casual pieces for my wardrobe too. I did a loop at Kohl’s the other day and they came through with some cute for my spring style goals.
I took advantage and put together two looks, both based around white shoes, let me know which one you like best!
Side Note: I’m trying really hard not to make a “Daniel, back at it again with the white Vans” joke, but if you decide to leave a “daaaaaang CeCe!!” comment below, I will probably laugh out loud and love you forever.
Okay, back to the outfits– which one would you wear? (Click the Next Button for outfit #2!)
Set your DVR, because… I’ll be on the Rachael Ray show doing a plus size fashion segment.
The episode airs Monday (March 28th), I’m not giving any spoilers but the episode should be lots of fun.
In the meantime, here’s what I wore for the segment:
When I posted this outfit on my YouTube channel, someone asked about wearing skinny belts as a plus size girl, and honestly, the key is shapewear.
Skinny belts have tendencies to creep into a girls, um… “nooks and crannies”. No one wants a skinny belt getting lost, you want it to accent your body nicely and not to budge. So what I do for this look is grab a light pair of shapewear to smooth out any lumps or bumps. My favorite plus size shapewear are maiden form, flexees.
Let me know if you catch the episode! xx
Model or Me is not a competition. I think it’s body positive to see that items can look just as good on a big girl with lumps as it does on a model with a perfect figure. So, these posts are just my way of leveling the playing field a bit and opening our eyes that we can wear whatever we want. The main point is comparison and seeing that different can be good.
Now on to today’s post where you get to vote if you like it on the model or on me!
Here are the overalls on the model
My main concern with overalls is how they’ll fit across my tummy. So, I decided to over mine two sizes larger than my pant size. I knew that I could just tighten the straps and customize the fit across my bust.
I was very surprised by how soft the denim is on these, they feel amazing!
I have nothing bad to say about these, I’m pretty much in love. I’ve worn them while running errands and I paired them with heels for a dinner the other night.
Now it’s your turn to weigh in. Do you like these overalls on the model… or me?
One of the most frustrating (and sometimes painful) parts about being plus size is shopping. I have so many memories of standing awkwardly in the accessories section while my skinny friends shopped. Those situations made me feel left out and took the fun out of shopping.
Thankfully, as my confidence grew, I got comfortable being plus size and shopping at plus size stores. But I was still frustrated that I didn’t have as many options as my skinny friends. I’ve been in an entire mall full of stores and found only two stores that catered to my body.
So, what’s a girl to do?
Well, recently I’ve started shopping for plus size clothes… in the skinny section.
Yup, you heard me! I’m not one of those size 12/14 girls who is “on the cusp” of plus. I’m a big girl with breasts, hips and a belly… and I’m finding clothes that fit in the skinny section. Want to learn how? Want to watch a video of me shopping in Express? Click the “next” button.
Alright, my lovelies… I’ve been taking you inside the dressing room every weekend and you’ve been helping me choose items and telling me what to leave behind. So, today I’m sharing how a few of those trips came together for outfits.
We’ve got a sweater from my plus size shopping at Torrid video and a skirt from my plus size shopping at Charlotte Russe, video (below).
I wore this outfit for a day full of meetings (hence the comfy flats), but this is definitely a contender for Easter, perhaps with a pink bag and pink shoes. How would you style this look?
This is my new favorite skirt because of the length and the material. The skirt is long enough to be formal, casual or anything in between depending on how I style it. and the scuba fabric gives it a nice stiff extreme a-line and I think that’s really cute!
Sunnies: Karen Walker via Amazon
I actually tried on this skirt in two different prints, check it out in this dressing room video!
So now that you’ve seen the skirt in the dressing room and how I rocked it “in real life”, let me know what you think. How would you style this skirt?
