Steal My Healthy Hair Routine

As I celebrate the 10 year anniversary of “Don’t Wait on Your Weight”, I want to take time to thank and support some of the small businesses that have been instrumental to my confidence journey. Finding the path to healthy hair has been a major confidence boost for me. The small black woman business owner who is responsible for my hair success is Celebrity Hair Stylist and Natural Hair Expert, Sabine Bellevue of Sabine’s Hallway Natural Hair Salon in Brooklyn. Sabine has been taking care of my hair for years now and I’m so grateful.  Many of the products I mention in todays post are hand created by Sabine and she’s generously offering 10% off your entire purchase. Let’s begin…

As someone who has been blessed with long, healthy natural hair, I often get asked about my hair care routine. No gatekeeping here, I have a monthly, weekly and daily healthy hair routine and I’m happy to share it with you!

What Are Sisterlocks?

First things first, let me tell you about my Sisterlocks. Sisterlocks are tiny uniform locks created using a special tool. They are low maintenance and allow for versatile styling options. To maintain my Sisterlocks, I get them retightened every four weeks or once a month at Sabines Hallway Natural Hair Salon. This helps to keep them neat and tidy.

What is a Good Scalp Detox for Long Healthy Natural Hair?

In addition to retightening my sisterlocks, I also do a scalp detox once a month. The scalp detox mask is Sabine’s homemade recipe, which is not available for sale (yet!). But it’s made with natural ingredients like bentonite clay, apple cider vinegar, and essential oils. It helps to remove build-up and impurities from my scalp, leaving it clean and refreshed.

What is a Good Shampoo & Conditioner for Long Natural Hair?

After the scalp detox, I wash my hair with Nutrafol Root Purifier Shampoo and Strand Defender Conditioner. These products are specifically formulated to promote hair growth and protect hair from damage. They leave my hair feeling clean, soft, and nourished.

Is Hair Steaming Good for Natural Hair?

Next up is hair steaming. This is an essential step in my hair care routine. Hair steaming involves using a hair steamer or a heated towel to apply moist heat to the hair. The benefits of hair steaming include increased moisture retention, improved elasticity, and enhanced absorption of hair products. It helps to keep my hair hydrated, soft, and easy to manage.

What is a Good Leave in Conditioner For Long Natural Hair?

Lastly, I condition my hair with Sabine’s Hallway Hair Potion Oil. This product is formulated with natural ingredients like olive oil, rosemary, clove, jojoba oil, cedar wood, vitamin e and castor oil. It helps to nourish and strengthen my hair, leaving it shiny, soft, and healthy.

Natural ingredients like olive oil, rosemary, clove, jojoba oil, cedar wood, vitamin E, and castor oil have a variety of benefits for hair health. Here are some of the benefits of these ingredients:

  1. Olive Oil: Olive oil is rich in antioxidants and healthy fats that can help to nourish the scalp and hair. It can also help to strengthen hair and reduce breakage.
  2. Rosemary: Rosemary has antimicrobial properties that can help to improve scalp health and reduce inflammation. It can also stimulate hair growth and improve circulation to the scalp.
  3. Clove: Clove has anti fungal and antiseptic properties that can help to reduce scalp irritation and promote healthy hair growth. It can also help to increase blood flow to the scalp, which can improve hair growth.
  4. Jojoba Oil: Jojoba oil is similar in composition to natural oils produced by the scalp, so it can help to regulate oil production and improve scalp health. It can also help to moisturize and nourish the hair.
  5. Cedar wood: Cedar wood has astringent properties that can help to balance the production of oil in the scalp. It can also help to improve circulation to the scalp and promote healthy hair growth.
  6. Vitamin E: Vitamin E is an antioxidant that can help to protect hair from damage caused by free radicals. It can also help to improve scalp circulation and promote healthy hair growth.
  7. Castor Oil: Castor oil is rich in fatty acids that can help to moisturize and nourish the hair. It can also help to improve scalp health and stimulate hair growth.

Overall, natural ingredients like olive oil, rosemary, clove, jojoba oil, cedar wood, vitamin E, and castor oil can help to improve hair health and promote healthy hair growth. Incorporating these ingredients into your hair care routine can help to nourish and strengthen your hair, reduce scalp irritation, and improve overall scalp health. My Weekly Healthy Hair Routine

In addition to my monthly scalp detox at the salon, I also take care of my scalp at home. I wash my scalp with Head and Shoulders shampoo 1-2 times per week.

If you have scalp eczema like me, Head and Shoulders can be a great option. It contains active ingredients like pyrithione zinc, which helps to fight dandruff and soothe the scalp. It also has a cooling effect that can help to reduce itching and irritation.

Furthermore, Head and Shoulders is a pH-balanced shampoo, which means it can help to maintain the natural pH of the scalp. This is important because when the pH of the scalp is imbalanced, it can lead to issues like dryness, flaking, and itching.

Overall, using Head and Shoulders shampoo 1-2 times per week can be an effective way to keep the scalp clean, healthy, and free of irritation. However, it’s important to note that everyone’s scalp is different, and what works for one person may not work for another. If you have scalp eczema, it’s always a good idea to consult with a dermatologist to find the best treatment plan for your specific needs.

My Daily Hair Routine

Drinking Sabine’s Hallway Organic Herbal Blend Tea every day is an essential part of my healthy hair routine. This tea is specially formulated with natural ingredients like hibiscus, licorice root, burdock root, nettle, rosemary, and clove, which are known to promote hair growth and overall health.

Growing healthy hair is not just about what you do on the outside; it’s also about what you put inside your body. Drinking Sabine’s Hallway Organic Herbal Blend Tea can help to nourish the hair from the inside out. Here are some of the ways that the ingredients in this tea can benefit hair health:

  • Hibiscus: Hibiscus is rich in vitamin C, which is essential for collagen production. Collagen is a protein that helps to strengthen hair and improve its elasticity. Hibiscus also has antioxidant properties that can help to protect hair from damage.
  • Licorice Root: Licorice root is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Inflammation in the scalp can inhibit hair growth and contribute to hair loss, so reducing inflammation can help to promote healthy hair growth.
  • Burdock Root: Burdock root is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that are essential for hair health. It can help to nourish the scalp and promote hair growth.
  • Nettle: Nettle is rich in vitamins and minerals that are essential for healthy hair growth, such as iron, silica, and vitamins A and C. It also contains compounds that can help to reduce inflammation in the scalp, which can improve hair health.
  • Rosemary: Rosemary has been used for centuries to promote hair growth and improve scalp health. It has antimicrobial properties that can help to reduce scalp irritation and inflammation.
  • Clove: Clove has antifungal and antiseptic properties that can help to reduce scalp irritation and promote healthy hair growth. It also has a warming effect that can help to increase blood flow to the scalp, which can improve hair growth.

By drinking Sabine’s Hallway Organic Herbal Blend Tea every day, you can provide your body with the nutrients it needs to grow healthy, strong hair. Additionally, drinking herbal tea can help to reduce stress, which is important for overall health and hair growth. Use code CECE for 10% off.
