I walked into the gym the other day and was surprised to find a camera man filming on the cardio floor.
I found an elliptical machine behind him, so I wouldn’t be filmed during my session. As I began pedaling in place, a woman in a suit walked up to me with an index card in her hand.
“Hi, my name is Stacy. I’m with CBS news”
“Um… hi”
“We’re doing a story based on a recent study that was released saying that some women are less likely to work out as hard when they are working out next to ‘skinny bitches’. You know, those model types that don’t need to be here,” she said. “So could I ask you a few questions on camera?”
“I dont really fit that profile,” I replied.
“Oh,” she said.
There was a slight pause, “Does working out next to skinny people make you work out harder?” she asked with a big smile.
“No, I just don’t think about anyone else while I’m working out.”
“Oh… okay… well… that’s okay too. Thanks!” She replied and walked away.
Hey you big girl- I love your blog. You write well and have a funny spin to your stories. Keep it up fine one.
I was at boarders this week on 57th and Park and in the window was “Skinny Bitches and “Big Boned” Both ened up in my shopping bag. Best wishes to you.

Thanks Barbara!
LOL. That’s too funny.
I get very irritated when people say “skinny bitches”. I’m fat and my best friend is skinny and she is the most wonderful person, even in helping me deal w/ my weight. And it’s a gym! Everyone should be there, cuz even skinny women need to keep in shape! Now…working out in front of guys…that’s another story.
NYC sucks for bedding down chubby girls. Its the worst place in the world to find a big girl that just wants to eat and phuc.. They make you jump through all these hoops and then try and hang some weird kind of emotional trip on you. Why cant we just meet hang out and go for it if theres chemistry.. 🙁 to many games….
OMG I love your blog! I think I woulda said, "No, I only think about them when I'm eatin' cake"!!
Cece,
This reminds me of a saying my aunt always told me: “Don’t ever care what anyone thinks of you. Do what you want.” While it’s slightly irrational, it rings true for the rational. Be true, stay you. 🙂
