Hello, Dolls!
Greetings from Martha’s Vineyard! I was thinking about my first trip to Martha’s Vineyard in 2018 and how I’ve slowly fallen in love with the vineyard over the years! As summer winds down it feels good to be here, relaxing and spending time with the people I love. Today is a rainy day. I’ve already done my journaling and my workout, so I thought I would take a moment to catch you up on what’s been happening in my life.

In June, I celebrated my birthday in Brooklyn with a rooftop barbecue and some other unexpected blessings. Can I just say, I feel SO happy to be living in Brooklyn. I’ve met some incredible people and I’m learning so much about the borough of Brooklyn, which is really fun. I feel like whenever I move, it takes me about a year to really “settle in” to a place. I’m finally starting to visualize how I want to decorate my new apartment. I really want to finish my cozy outdoor space renovation so that I can host a few fall parties on my balcony, fingers crossed! I made a little video of my renovation project:
In July I attended my family reunion in Atlanta, Georgia. If you’re new here, my Father is Nigerian and my Mother is Black American. On my Black American side, we gather for a family reunion every three years. We were supposed to gather in 2020 but we had to postpone our family reunion to 2022, due to the pandemic. I spent the week with hundreds of my cousins from all over the country. My girl Chastity let me drive her Barbie car while I was in town. I must admit, I really enjoyed driving my family around in a bright red Audi convertible. The best part about the reunion is that I got to spend some good quality time with my Mom, which I really needed. I made a little reel with some of my favorite moments!
Now it’s August and I am having a summer adventure on Martha’s Vineyard. I’m all settled in and enjoying things like running into you dolls around the island (thank you for saying hello!) attending the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival (“Aftershock” is a MUST watch– it’s on Hulu, have you seen it?!) and preparing to eat Char Broiled Oysters! Have you ever tried Char Broiled Oysters? In my opinion, even if you you hate traditional oysters, you should give Char Broiled Oysters a try. If you love char broiled oysters, you should give the char broiled oysters at The Atlantic a try. I enjoy traditional oysters, but Char Broiled Oysters from The Atlantic in Edgartown have a special place in my heart. Anyway, for the last two summers, char broiled oysters have been off of the menu and I have been heart broken… but last night I found out that the chef has put char broiled oysters back on the menu. So, you heard it here first dolls, char broiled oysters are back… and I can’t wait to have them again.
I hope you’re having a beautiful summer,
CeCe xx
