How the Body Positive Weight Loss Conversation Began….

Hello, Doll! If you’re reading this you’re either a part of my community or you’re curious about how to practice body positive weight loss. Either way, I’m happy you’re here. A few things you should know about me before we begin.

My personal mantra is “don’t wait on your weight to live the life you want”.

I’m co-founder of theCURVYcon.

Over the last five+ years I’ve gone from a size 28 to a size 18.

I don’t post before and after photos, but if you’d like to see what I look like in different versions of my body, you can scroll through my instagram.

When I started this blog anonymously in 2008, I used to speak very openly about wanting to lose weight. One of the gifts of being a plus size fashion blogger is that I was introduced to a Body Positive mindset. As Body Positivity came into my life, two things changed.

1.) I started to be consistent with my fitness routine and my food routine from a body positive mindset.

2.) I stopped talking about weight loss– because of my body positive mindset, it felt taboo to speak about it.

Some of you have been asking me to talk about weight loss again. It is said that numbers don’t lie, so recently I decided to give you dolls the chance to vote anonymously on what I should do. The question was simple– do you want me to talk about body positive weight loss? The results blew me away. Thousands of you dolls voted anonymously and 91% of you said Yes to a body positive weight loss conversation.

A Good Suggestion from my community…

So, that is how the Body Positive Weight Loss conversation began. I’m now trying to be thoughtful about how we continue the conversation. I’ve been getting an abundance of messages and ideas on how to have this conversation thoughtfully, so thank you for your responses.

I love this note above, suggesting that I start a new instagram account for this conversation. She’s right, I don’t have the bandwidth for a separate instagram account, but here’s what I can do. I can blog about my journey to lose 10 pounds in a year here on my website. When you want to read what’s going on with this part of my life, you can simply head over to my blog for the latest.

My Body is out of Balance…

Instead of telling myself “I need to lose weight!” I find it more productive to tell myself “CeCe, your body is out of balance…” I don’t know about you, but I rarely need a scale to tell me that my body is out of balance. One thing that I’ve learned is to listen to my body and pay attention to what it’s telling me. When my body speaks to me, it can sound like any number of things like knee pain, back pain, inflammation, dehydration, fatigue, cravings… just to name a few things. Right now, my body telling me loud and clear that it is out of balance.

This isn’t the first time my body has fallen out of balance, and it wont be the last. Sometimes my body falls out of balance because I’m stressed or sad or work is hectic. When my body is out of balance, I have a specific recipes, rituals and routines that I take to get back into alignment with my body. My recipes, rituals and routines are simple and you probably have everything you need at home to do them along with me if you want to.

The first step includes a warm bubble bath… I’ll tell you more about it in my next post.

Thank you for reading,

CeCe
