Easter was last Sunday which meant my 40 days without bread is officially over. I thought I was going to lose my head and go nuts, perhaps doing an Easter brunch binge but strangely, things are different.
I did eat a lot of rich food, and I felt gross….
I’ve had the option of eating bread for four days now and I really haven’t gone overboard. And honestly whenever I try to go overboard, I can’t. Robert bought me a box of girl scout “Thin Mint” cookies that have been in my desk drawer for the majority of Lent. After having a bowl of chicken gumbo soup for lunch, I opened the box around 3pm because I was feeling a little hungry. I had five cookies (a serving is four) and put them away. I didn’t feel deprived, I was just done.
Last night, I went to an event and when I got hungry, instead of splitting a plate of onion rings with my friends (even though they looked delicious!) I went home and made an omelet.
They say it takes 21 days to make/break a habit. 40 days later I think I may have curbed my bread addiction.
This is weird.
heh not sure if this is a good or bad thing… but i am glad that u have broken the habit and now YOU can choose whether you want to eat the whole bread basket or not and not just let it be the choice of your addiction π bravo miss!
Good for you! You got through it! I love me some bread! I changed the way I eat last year and started thinking about it yesterday actually. At first I changed it because I obviously wanted to drop some weight, but now, I actually enjoy my salads and would prefer the right salad (not a plain old boring salad but not one drenched in ranch either :)) over my beloved Jack in the Box tacos! I can't believe that just came out of my mouth! haha π
Yeah I tried to eat bread and instantly I felt gross. I also tried tempura…same thing. But strangely when I tried chocolate I didn't feel bad! I get to have some this weekend, mmmm….
congratulations! i was a bad catholic this year and didn't give up a thing for lent! π
I am sure you fell better and healthier not eating bread for 40 days.
I am right there with you on this. For me it extends to all starchy carbs (rice, pasta, potato, bread) but after not having them for awhile, it is amazing. kudos to you!
You did better for Lent than I did! I gave up dessert, but actually only for about 2/3 of it. Mostly because of all my friends' birthdays, so I couldn't reject cake. Anyway, congratulations!
I do think I could give up bread for that long. Good job!!
Oh my gosh, I am a major major foodie and after reading your blog I just want to say "congratulations!!!"
