This has been an exciting week, for so many different reasons. God continually surprises me, leading me in directions I never imagined. I share all about my first red carpet experience to the Bohemian Rhapsody premier, and other exciting life updates!
I’m excited to share that I’m doing a Tedx Talk this week!
As you can imagine, I am a little nervous, but I am doing everything I can to prepare. The last decision is… what should I wear?
Over the years you’ve seen me do Wendy Williams show, the Rachael Ray show and of course, theCURVYcon so you know the different style choices I like to make for special moment.
I’m a firm believer that taking care of yourself. Health as a practice is extremely important to me– I’m more concerned with doing things that keep me strong and healthy than how I look or what the scale says. So it is time to move forward and get back into my routine of things.
For me, this means getting back into the gym, karaoke with friends, reorganizing my closet… basically, anything that is going to help bring order back into my life.
This summer I rented a house on Martha’s Vineyard with my girlfriends. A lot of my friends went to really fancy schools in Boston, so they’ve been going to Martha’s Vineyard since undergrad, but this was my first time.
I had zero expectations coming into the trip, I just knew I would be on a charming island with my friends. In the end the 7 days we spent on the island is my favorite thing I’ve done all summer.
Martha’s Vineyard is nice because some areas feel like the woods and some areas feel like the beach. I really liked being able to tap into both of those vibes each day.
Before I jump into things to do, here are some quick things I learned.
Chastity Garner and CeCe Olisa are asked everyday about their level of confidence, from fashion to building their own business, and how they get the confidence to do what they do. Each week, CeCe and Chastity will explore what it takes to be confident, over cocktails.
As I stood on the corner of 34th street and 7th avenue, I was in a full blown panic. I was too weak to stand on my own, so I leaned against the grimy wall outside New York Penn Station and waited for an ambulance to find me in the middle of Manhattan.
Just a few hours earlier, I was happily dancing at a friends wedding.
A few days before that I was filming my first national segment for the Today Show during New York Fashion Week.
I had no idea that while I was laser focused on supporting my friends and pursuing my passions, my body was quietly falling apart.
Which brings me to the most frustrating adulting mistake I’ve made this year….
Remember when Kanye said, “Single black female addicted to retail”? I’m pretty sure he was talking about me.
One of my New Year’s resolutions for 2018 is to take note of the good things in my life while they’re happening. If you haven’t figured this out about me already, I’m very driven and goal oriented. This is a good thing, but sometimes I’m so focused on the future that I don’t take in the amazing things happening in the present until much later.
This year I want to look back on each day, week and month and take moments for joy and gratitude.
That being said, I’d like to share with you 5 Amazing things that happened in the month of January.
Last fall a bunch of stuff happened and I did a horrible job of keeping you updated. To make a long story short, I got incredibly sick at the end of September and spent almost a month in the hospital. I know. It was awful. Because of everything that happened and the intense recovery that I’ve been doing, I didn’t have the energy to write blog posts but I did upload regular videos on my YouTube channel. Are you subscribed? Click Here to join the party! Anyway, I did an in depth YouTube life update video where I explained exactly what happened that landed me in the hospital for three weeks (you can watch that video here). I also announced on my YouTube channel…
Happy 2018, my loves! I took some extended time off after the holidays but now I am back into the swing of things! Some of you may have noticed this about me, but I’m a planner. In my personal life and in my work life, mapping things out is a big part of how my brain works. I love to take my visions and ideas and bring them to life. I’ve been blessed to do what I love as my full time job. I get to blog, do youtube and run theCURVYcon for a living. In order to juggle everything, I really have to stay organized. For the past three years I’ve been using the passion planner– it was really…
