I’m in Women’s Running Magazine!

I’m so excited to share that I’m in this months issue of Women’s Running Magazine! I’m still in awe that I (a Plus Size Princess) am in a fitness magazine… Hooray for Healthy Curves at Every Size! If you follow me on snapchat, you know that I run a lot on the track here in NYC and when I travel. I took my running to the next level of commitment last year when I shared How to Run Your first 5K Race after I did mine in Philadelphia. Welp, I guess you never know who’s watching because Women’s Running Mag reached out and asked me to share my favorites for plus size runners. So cool, right? (*waves hi to my parents*) Anyway,…

Brown Rice for Breakfast

So many of you were inspired by my Quinoa for Breakfast post, I thought I’d bring you a new healthy breakfast option, brown rice for breakfast! Why Brown Rice? Worlds Healthiest Foods sums it up well: The health benefits of brown rice continue with its fiber, which has been shown to reduce high cholesterol levels, one more way brown rice helps prevent atherosclerosis. Fiber also helps out by keeping blood sugar levels under control (PCOS girls, take note!) I am obsessed with this recipe because it’s super easy, customizable and delicious. For me, the toasted sesame oil is the secret flavor here, but I’ll let you try it out and decide for yourself. I’ll give you the rundown of how I made…

Plus Size Workout Video | Rihanna “Work” feat. Drake

I’m traveling a lot right now, so it’s up to me to keep my workouts fun and interesting. If you follow me on snapchat (CeCeOlisa) you’ve seen me walking, swimming, boxing, etc. Yesterday I was working out in my parents back yard. I realized that I haven’t created a one song workout for you girls in a while, so I took my camera and started messing around to “Work”, by Rihanna. Shout out to AceMula for this remix! I think it’s easy to take fitness too seriously, but movement is fun and makes me happy so I do it and I share it with you girls.   Send Me this Workout Video! Is this my most perfect workout ever? Nope,…

Healthy, Yummy NYC Brunch at Bluestone Lane

Fun fact about me, Brunch is my favorite meal! I love sleeping in but still getting breakfast food, I love chatting with friends into the late afternoon and I really love it when a brunch meal is outside or has extra sunny views. The only drawback with brunch is that when you’re trying to live a healthy lifestyle, sometimes mimosas, french toast and bacon aren’t the best choices. On the other hand, staying home to eat oatmeal every weekend isn’t always super appealing either. I asked you all on my instagram if you were interested in healthy brunch options in NYC and lots of you said YES! So, as I find great reastaurants, I’ll send them your way. If you…

3 Minute Plus Size Workout Routine #MakeYourMove

I have an idea, let me know what you think? On the days that working out is the last thing I want to do, I’m going to give myself a three minute workout challenge. Push hard for three minutes and then if I still feel… blah. Fine. But, if after three minutes I’m ready for more? Then off we go! Winter is when I need something like this the most. It’s so dark and cold here in NYC and my inspiration sometimes drops the minute the sun goes down (at like, 4pm… augh!). So far my three minute challenge has been working. Last week I was having a “can’t I just catch up on Downton Abbey instead of going for…

Three Ways to Get Motivated to Work Out (No Gym Required)

Is fitness one of your goals right now? I’m pretty sure we all know that working out is important for our health at any size. We probably know the workouts we enjoy and the ones we can’t stand (I’m looking at you, spin class). But at the end of the day, knowing what workouts we should be doing and actually working out are two different things. So, here are three ways to get motivated to work out. Reach out to a Friend Something I love to do is to catch up with friends and family while I take long walks. While I was home in California I caught up a lot with our family dog, Bingo. When I’m in NYC,…

The past few years, I started noticing an unfortunate trend in my new year’s resolutions: They were all steeped in negativity. “I’m going to lose weight” (because I’m too big). “I’m going to stop eating after 7 p.m.” (because I need to lose weight). “I’m going to hit the gym more” (same-old, same-old). What I’ve basically been saying is: “My body sucks.” So, although focusing on my health is undoubtedly a huge priority for me, I’ve come to the conclusion that the only way I’m going to reach my goals is if I possess a positive body image. For the New Year, that means out with the negative resolutions and in with the encouraging and uplifting ones. I’m going to…
