3 Yummy Quinoa Breakfast Recipes

I always thought of quinoa as a savory dish. Something to be used as a rice alternative, but this week I tried quinoa for breakfast as an oatmeal alternative and, um… yum! I posted it on my instagram page and got questions about how to make quinoa for breakfast, so let’s talk about why we should be eating more quinoa and how to prepare it for breakfast!

By the way, Quinoa is pronounced: Keen-Wah, if you’re wondering.

For those of us with PCOS, we want to avoid carbs from sweets, white bread, pasta, rice, etc. If we can swap those with carbos that stabilize blood sugar like sprouted grains, brown rice and quinoa it becomes easier to manage our insulin resistance, weight and overall health.

According to this article quinoa is one of only a few plant foods that are considered a complete protein.

Here are three yummy ways to get your quinoa in the morning.

  1. Thanks so much for the correct way of saying it. I often forget and get it mixed with the fruit kumquat I have no idea why but I do lol. Anyway A friend of mine uses this in salads which U have yet to try. Now the first recipie im thinking replacing the pumpkin seeds with any other type of roasted seed, because I am not a fan of pumpkin. But ghe others sound great so I will give them a try.

  3. I recently tried making chia breakfast pudding. You just soak chia seeds overnight in almond milk (or whichever milk substitute you prefer). It ends up very similar to a tapioca pudding, which is great if you don’t mind the texture. Then I add berries for sweetness, and a few nuts for texture such as raw almonds.

Not sure if this would also be a healthy alternative breakfast, but I really enjoy it.

  5. Hi Cece, love your blog!
Like the raspberry vanilla almond breakfast quinoa…. Definitely going to try it out…. I like quinoa in salad too…. What I really like about quinoa is it takes up the taste and flavour of its ingredient. I also use quinoa instead of rice and enjoy it with spicy Indian curry….
