I’ve got a question: Can Body Positivity and weight loss mix? Are you Body Positive if you want to lose weight? In today’s video I’m exploring this and sharing my own definition of Body Positivity.

    I absolutely LOVE this video. So well said!!! I had to love my body first before I could make any changes to it. Body Positivity is a “wholeness” process. Again, well said. I will be sharing!

    I believe that body positivity and weight-loss do mix! 100%! Appreciating who you are, liking who you are, loving who you are is a personal thing. Taking care of yourself (body, health, etc) is a VERY positive thing! There are a plethora of reasons why many exercise (which can at times lead to weight loss), however the main focus for doing so is not and should not be because you HATE yourself. Exercise, taking care of your health so you can continue to wear cute outfits, explore the world around you, love your family and friends, is a very Body Positive thing. When you are doing exercise as a punishment to yourself, you need to stop, learn to love YOU and then take care of yourself.

    You only get one body; love it, care for it, be proud of it, because it is YOURS.

      Working out from a place of punishment is an AWFUL experience… I never want to go back to a place where that’s what I’m doing. Hooray from evolution!! xx

    Yes! They DO mix.
    Wanting to lose weight makes people think that you hate yourself and that you want to be skinny.
    Body positivity is accepting yourself exactly where you are right now.
    It’s also treating your body >positively<. So, if working out and eating better to lose weight, whether it be 10 lbs or 75 (like me), it can make a world of difference in how we feel internally and mentally. Losing weight, for most affects us hormonally (ridding excess estrogen) and even taking weight off bad knees and a a bad low back.

    In my opinion body positivity includes eating healthy, and incorporating physical activity into your life. Body positivity is also loving yourself enough to know that if something is causing your body harm (Whether it is excessive eating or lack of physical activities.) that you owe it to yourself to correct it. If someone thinks that body positivity means that excessive weight has to remain on your body to the point of causing you pain or discomfort than they do not really understand what it means. Taking care of yourself whether you are skinny or plus sized is body positivity in my opinion. I would love to see you address this again on your You Tube Channel. You have a good attitude about body positivity.

    THANK YOU. I have loved my body and been positive about my body for over 10 years, but I just had weight loss surgery, because even though I love my body, I’m not happy with the complications it caused, and the worry it brought me sometimes. We should be able to love our body in the moment, but also be able to change what we don’t like to make us more comfortable, that doesn’t make us any less body positive. I had weight loss surgery so I could go on roller coasters with my kids without worrying if I was going to fit or not, not to be thin, not to be a size whatever, not to be a certain number on my scale. This was such a great and needed video.

    I so agree with what you said. Thank you for saying this. I think you can be body positive and have weight loss as part of being body positive. I so understand about the knee pain. Being body positive for me is about take care of my body and being healthy and fit for me. Bravo CeCe. Bravo

    Being body positive IS truly a holistic approach as you said. Some of us are at different stages but we should be striving to be the best we can be now and in the future.
