How to Prevent Chub Rub: Bandelettes

March 13 2017 | CeCe Olisa

One of my greatest accomplishments has been conquering inner thigh chafing (aka chub rub).

From my first post on how to prevent inner thigh chafing until now, I will always be looking for ways to stay comfortable while wearing skirts and dresses. Today I’m adding another product to my list of chub rub fighters: Bandelettes!

Are you the type of person who wears shorts under her dresses? I do that sometimes, but honestly it’s not always the most feminine feeling. Depending on the outfit or the weather, sometimes shorts can rob me of the easy breezy feeling I’m looking for.

Here’s where Bandelettes can help!

Bandelettes are these adorable bands that you can slip over your thighs under any dress or skirt. They give your inner thighs protection against painful chaffing without adding too many layers underneath your outfit.

Bandelettes come in different fabrics and they have a silicone strip to keep them in place around your thighs during the day.

Before you purchase your Bandelettes, be sure to quickly measure your thighs and use their size chart so that you can get the perfct fit. My thighs chaffe at a very specific place so I made sure to measure right around that area so mine would give me the protection that I need.

I wore a black lace pair under my new Prabal Gurung dress.

I also slipped an extra pair into my purse to always have on hand during long days when I don’t want to reapply chub rub cream.

Have you tried Bandelettes?

Great post, as always CeCe! I just recently found Pettipants (linked below), which are like a half-slip but separated like loose shorts. I like to wear a lot of shorter skirts in the summer, and I also wanted a bit of coverage in case my skirt blew around while walking to my commuter train. They are cool and silky, pretty and lacy, and also help prevent the dreaded “chub rub” and wardrobe mishaps. I bought one pair to test them out, and fell in love with the look and fit, so then purchased two of the the 3-packs. Hope this helps someone like it has helped me. Cheers!

Help! Have you got any ideas for minimizing skin fold in legs? Bandelettes are probably going to leave a bulge above and below for me, so I need an idea on how to either get rid of the folds or something larger that won’t leave bulges that will show through tights. Also do you have any secrets for keeping fungus from growing there? I hate wearing leggings or hose now because of those damned folds!

Lane Bryant sells some shapewear shorts that I wear to keep chaffing at bay. It wouldn’t keep skin from folding, but it provides total thigh protection. I wear them under all hosiery because I don’t like the way tights feel on my straight skin. They’re not light and breezy but they are more comfortable and cheaper than Spanx. I’m adding a link. http://bit.ly/2mos9jn
