Plus Size Shopping at Lane Bryant | Dressing Room Confidential

July 7 2016 | CeCe Olisa

When I need something from Lane Bryant these days, I usually go to LaneBryant.com. I like that they have lots of exclusive items and I often find coupon codes that help me stay within my budget.

Earlier this week, I popped into a Lane Bryant store to return a pair of shoes so I figured I should make a dressing room confidential while I was there.

The major debate on this video is the first dress I tried on… some say it’s cute, some say it’s a moo-moo and that I should stay far away! What do you think?

I did buy the orange culotte’s and paired them with my off the shoulder top from this post

I know I mentioned that LB does some “online exclusives”, if you live in a town where Lane Bryant is the only plus size option, this section of the website is a great way to ensure that you’re not buying the same items as every plus size princess within a 10 mile radius as you. Here are a few of my favorite exclusives:

Tiered Shell Top

Evening Jumpsuit by ABS

Sweet Mint Pleated Dress

Short Beaded Cap Sleeve Dress

Something I never know how to showcase in my dressing room confidential videos are shoes. Most of LB’s wide width shoes are sold online but I lucked out and was able to purchase some returns that someone had dropped off. Here are some of my favorite wide width shoes that I’m loving right now.

Bling Slip on Sneaker

Wide Width Sparly Shoes

Strappy Wooden Heel Sandal

So… what was your opinion on that first maxi?

I tried on that same multi-colored dress at LB and didn’t like the jeweled beading at the neck or how wide it make me look, so I didn’t get it. I prefer stuff that has a waist line to show off my figure. I didn’t like the culottes. They’re weird, like a skirt that’s going thru an identity crisis and tried being pants, but failed miserably. Just be a skirt and call it a day. LoL…The yellow dress was super cute on you, but feels like it needs something at the waist, perhaps a different colored belt?
ps ~ love these videos! please show us the jumpsuit in better lighting, it was hard to see. 🙂

First dress, I like but I’d go down (on you) to at least a 20/22. I don’t feel the need to define my waist with every look and I love a flowy maxi dress in the summer, but that just looks too big in a 26. I don’t like the culottes, but I like and agree with you on the fitted top. Yeloow dress was really cute on you but again would be best sized down a bit. That ruffled skirt was a bit too twee for my taste, but a little less obnoxious paired with the denim jacket. My favorite look was the jumpsuit on you. I think it’s a great daytime to nightime piece. pair with flats or vans in the day and add a pair of low heeled sandals and a statement necklace for evening

I purchased the same culottes and plan to pair it with a plaid cape I purchased, as well. You look great!

I LOVED that first maxi, but I would say go down at least a size on it — I think it would still be flowy boho magic on you.

I really don’t appreciate advertising for Lane Bryant. I am looking for real advice form you, not for you to sell out to Lane Bryant of all people. They never do anything in the Black Community and they certainly don’t manufacture Black Style clothing. I assume they are paying you to advertise for them. How about you advertise a BLACK BUSINESS that promotes
    clothing for people color?

loved the maxi! not a fan of culottes, but that might just be me. the lace part on the sleeves are cute. the yellow dress is super cute. i’m not brave enough for jumpsuits yet, but it looked great on you! the ruffled skirt was cute, but i’d probably want it in a different print. the denim jacket was nice 🙂

Oh dear, I do think the maxi dress makes me think of muu muus, kind of the robes my mom wears around the house. I know on me that would look like a tent so I prefer something more formfitting on me although not exactly bodycon. =) Just call me fussy!
Are we not allowed to like or talk about Lane Bryant clothing? They are one of the major purveyors of plus size clothing so it’s fair to talk about them and choose their products or not as the case may be.

I don’t love the first maxi on you, though it does look incredibly comfortable, and that is always something! The tiered skirt is really cute! I looked at it the other day and shied away from it, but I think I’ll try it now. Thank you so much for your vlog!!

I’m from Hawai’i, so I don’t really buy in to the muu muu negativity. We are not so into the wasp-waist look, I guess. There is a kind of queenly statuesqueness thing that is just as ( if not more so) valued. I like the Maxie dress, but I really couldn’t see the neck detail on my phone. Maybe the next one will be better!

Hi! Do you know if they make any plugins to help with SEO? I’m trying to get my blog to rank for some targeted keywords but I’m not seeing very good gains. If you know of any please share. Thanks!
