All About SisterLocks: Your Questions Answered

June 30 2016 | CeCe Olisa

If you’ve ever been curious about my hair, this post is for you!

I have Sisterlocks…

I reached out to my friends who follow my instagram and asked them what questions they have about my hair. Today’s video covers everything you lovelies wanted to know. You can also see how my hair has grown since I first locked my hair.

What are Sisterlocks?

Sisterlocks are a natural hairstyle. They’re tiny uniform locks (yup, like “dreadlocks”) that are the result of a precision parting grid, and
the use of a specialized tool used to place the hair into its locking formation.

What’s Your Fave/Least Fave thing about your sisterlocks?

I love how versatile they are… I can’t use heat as often as I thought I could, not a bad thing, but I thought I’d be able to curl them all the time with no damage.

Are you fully locked?

Yes, I am. SisterLocks are locs 🙂

What oils do you put in your hair?

In general, I don’t put a lot of product in my hair, but when I do I like to use Cantu Leave in Mist

How long have you been locked?

I’ve been locked since July 11, 2014!

Who maintains your locks?

I go to Sabine’s Hallway in Brooklyn. Click Here to Meet Sabine

What’s Your favorite Shampoo?

For my eczema I alternate between a Tea Tree shampoo and Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla Sulfate Free Shampoo (which smells so yummy!)

How often do you wash your sisterlocks?

2-3 times per week.

How long will you grow them?

I want them long but not too long, I’m thinking just past my bra strap!

Have you ever heard of sisterlocks before? Ever wanted to try them? I’ll do more hair updates soon, so feel free to leave questions in the comments for the next video!

This was an informative post. I’ve done my own hair forever and never knew the formal name of this style. Sister locs. They remind me of yarn twists in terms of the versatility. They look great. I’ll have to look up that salon you went to as well.
