I’m still on cloud nine after walking the runway as JCPenney debuted Ashley Nell Tipton for Boutique+.
My heart swells every time Ashley Nell Tipton reaches a new milestone of success, I have fond memories of visiting her in her parents garage as she made dresses by hand years ago. Her drive and determination got her on project runway… and she won!
Spending the day with some of my favorite bloggers and plus models was so empowering to me. Everyone was kind and supportive, it was like the ultimate girl gang all day as we strutted down the runway in celebration of one of our own.
In between getting our hair and makeup done, we hung out, laughed and took turns holding Tess Holiday’s baby. It was just a great day!
Okay, so now let me gush about the clothes!
There are 19-pieces in this collection that will exclusively be available for plus-size women. With super inclusive sizing, the line goes up to a 30W/5X (!!!) What I love about this collection is that it breaks many plus size fashion “rules” with things like horizontal stripes, crops and cut outs. I’m also digging the vintage fifties vibe and cool colors.
Here are a few of my favorite looks. Tess definitely had my favorite look, I’ve seen a lot of style bloggers recreate this same look and everyone looks amazing in it.

If you’re still nervous about horizontal stripes, you’re in luck because this outfit comes in all black and an adorable lipstick print. That being said, I’d still encourage you to order the horizontal stripes, because you’ll look adorable in it, just like Essie does!

My look pushed me completely outside of my comfort zone. I’m cool with crop tops, but this leather pencil skirt was a stretch for your girl (A-line is more my thing) and being 5’10 I don’t ever wear super tall heels. So, while I loved this look, it was definitely an exercise in confidence for me. I actually was able to walk down the runway three times and every time I walked the thoughts of my tight skirt or tall heels flew out of my head and I just focused on owning it. In the end I didn’t want to take the outfit off. So for those of you who see pieces in this line and you really want to try them, but you’re scared… my advice to you is to go ahead and order it, put it on and then forget about it. You’d be surprised how much confidence can bloom when you just let yourself be free.
