10 Best Habits to Becoming a Morning Person

Before we begin, let me say that I have not always been a morning person. I was inspired to become a morning person when I quit my corporate job and became an entrepreneur. Before setting the intention to become a morning person, I could easily sleep in until 10am if you’d let me. Now, I’m a proud member of the 5am club, which means I wake up at 5am each day, naturally.

So, how did I become a morning person? I’m glad you asked!

Becoming a morning person was a slow and steady process that did not happen overnight (no pun intended, lol) it took about about a year for me to really retire from being a night owl and step into my new identity as a morning person. If you’re reading this, you’re probably curious about becoming a morning person. Becoming a morning person made me more confident and creative, so I encourage you to begin your journey. The best way to figure out how to become a morning person is to be patient with yourself, start slow and ask yourself the following ten questions. Your answers will help you develop the ten best habits to becoming a morning person.

1.) Are Morning Showers Better than Night Showers?

There are two times of day that you should be showering, and it’s not just for the sake of hygiene. A morning shower can help shake off sleep inertia while an evening one may provide some relaxation before bedtime! By now you probably know that I’m obsessed with body care and softening my skin, so my opinions are slightly biased. On a good day, I take a shower in the morning as part of my morning routine and take a warm bath at night as part of my night time routine. A morning shower is non-negotiable for me. I can be flexible on an evening bath, but I always do my nighttime skincare routine, which includes washing my face, removing makeup, etc. and massaging my hands, arms and décolletage with my skin softening doll butter

2.) What time should I go to bed?

According to research, the ideal time for a person’s body clock is 10 p.m., but it’s important not just go into bed at this hour without having any kind of routine or schedule first! I’m a proud member of the 5am club, which means I wake up at 5am every day. In order to keep up with that routine, my personal bedtime is 9pm (or earlier!).

3.) What is a Good Morning Routine?

My morning routine may look slightly different depending on the season of the year (or the season of my life!) For example, I recently swapped my workout and journaling time. Sometimes I wake up and grab my journal right away, but right now I’m waking up and grabbing my gym shoes right away. I tend to adjust my morning routine seasonally, so don’t be afraid to switch things up. At it’s core, I believe a good morning routine will have what Hal Elrod, author of The Miracle Morning calls the SAVERS routine. SAVERS stands for: silence, affirmations, visualization, exercise, reading, and scribing (i.e. journaling)

4.) Should I Check my Phone in the Morning?

Dolls, we all know that checking your phone as soon as you wake up is a terrible habit, but did you also realize the consequences it has on productivity? Your brain’s ability to prioritize tasks will suffer greatly if used too much during this time period. I sleep with my phone in another room to prevent me from picking it up right away.

5.) How often Should I Exercise?

If you follow the SAVERS morning routine method, Exercise is included in your daily routine. As a general rule, the more you move during your day-the better. Get into an active lifestyle by exercising at least 30 minutes 4 or 5 days per week; it’s good for both mind AND body. Yes, doll! Get up and move your beautiful body!

6.) What Time Should I Stop Drinking Caffiene?

I love my morning coffee and I make it something to look forward to during my morning routine. I do find that if I drink coffee after 3pm, falling asleep is a challenge later on. Caffeine is a powerful stimulant that can have an effect on your body for up to six hours after consuming it. If you’re sensitive, try cutting out any caffeine intake late in the day or before bedtime as this will help reduce any side-effects from too much consumption in one sitting.

7.) What time Should I Eat Dinner?

Living in New York City, there’s nothing more fun than a late night dinner laughing with friends. But I must admit, in my day-to-day life I  am more than happy to have an early dinner– grandma style! There’s a theory that suggests the ideal time to eat dinner is aligned with your body’s circadian rhythm and it allows you some extra digestion before bed. It turns out the ideal time to eat dinner is aligned with your circadian rhythm and allows you enough digestion before bed. This typically means eating at least 2-3 hours prior.

8.) What is the Best Morning Routine for Success?

I set an intention to become a morning person when I became an entrepreneur– since my success was 100% dependent on my confidence, creativity and productivity, I knew I wanted to start my day with the best morning routine possible. Have you ever wondered how some of the world’s most admired, creative and successful people start their days? The answer is simple – they rely on an established morning routine. A daily schedule that ensures they are as productive and fruitful throughout all aspects in life! Two Books I recommend as you establish your morning routine are The 5am Club by Robin Shwarma and The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. Congratulations, doll! The fact that you’re still working through these questions with me is proof that you’re on the way to creating a successful morning routine for yourself.  We’ve got two more questions to answer, let’s keep going!

9.) What is a Good Nighttime Routine?

In order to have a confidence boosting morning routine, you must create a good night routine. It might seem like an indulgent luxury to take the time for yourself before bed, but it’s really worth every second of tranquility. The good news is that you don’t have to create your night routine overnight (see what I did there? lol). Creating a good night routine is best done slowly overtime. Bedtime routines can vary, but for me a good one includes calming self care activities like taking a warm bath, reading, journaling, or meditation. My bedtime routine starts with taking a house of wise Sleep Gummy at 7 p.m. and ends with massaging Cocoa by CeCe Doll Butter all over my body to soften my skin overnight while I sleep. As a female founder I love supporting other women entrepreneurs. I’ve become friendly with Amanda Goetz, the founder of House of Wise, so I love to buy from her company. Right now, we’re bringing our companies together for a Cocoa by CeCe x House of Wise Bedtime Bundle.

10.) How to Get Better Sleep?

The benefits of a good night’s sleep cannot be overstated. It’s just as important to your health and well-being as a healthy diet or regular exercise routine!. Not only does it give you the chance to rejuvenate, but studies have shown that those who get enough zzzz’s experience improved mental clarity and an increased sense or wellbeing overall! When I began to create my night routine, this would happen to me often and it was so frustrating. Then I discovered Melatonin and CBD. Melatonin is the sleep hormone that tells your brain it’s time for bed. CBD works with this, alerting our brains to recruit certain neurotransmitters so you can stay asleep and wake up feeling refreshed!

In order to wake up at 5am each day, my official bedtime is 9pm– I take my CBD Melatonin at 7pm to ensure that I am drifting off to sleep by 9pm (and staying alseep through the night).

Well, dolls you’ve made it to the end! I hope you found this helpful as you prepare to practice your 10 Best habits to Becoming a Morning Person.
